- August 7, 2006 — The Power Mac G5 gets Intel Xeon processors, a slightly redeisgned case, and is renamed the Mac Pro.
- April 4, 2007 — A new Mac Pro model featuring a pair of 3.0GHz quad core Intel Xeon processors is added to the lineup. Existing models are unchanged.
- January 8, 2008 — Apple switch the Mac Pro line to dual quad-core processors as standard, available in speeds up to 3.2GHz.
