Key dates
- November 10, 1997 — Apple's display lineup is revamped with the AppleVision monitors renamed ColorSync and a new budget Multiple Scan 720.
- March 2, 1998 — Display prices are lowered slightly.
- March 17, 1998 — Apple introduces the Studio Display, a translucent 15-inch LCD with VGA, composite and S-Video inputs.
- January 5, 1999 — The Blue and White Studio Display line is introduced with a choice of a 15-inch LCD, 17-inch CRT or 21-inch CRT.
- August 31, 1999 — To accompany the Power Mac G4, Apple introduces the Cinema Display, a 22-inch LCD available only as a build-to-order option. Apple's CRT displays get new Graphite enclosures to match the Power Mac G4. A Graphite 15-inch LCD is also discussed, but Apple will continue shipping the Blue and White VGA LCD until December, when the Graphite DVI model finally ships.
- December 2, 1999 — The Graphite 15-inch Studio Display (with DVI) is finally introduced.
- July 19, 2000 — Apple introduces a new display lineup based around the ADC connector.
- January 9, 2001 — The 15-inch Studio Display is reduced to $799.
- February 22, 2001 — The 22-inch Cinema Display is reduced to $2,999.
- May 21, 2001 — A new 17-inch LCD Studio Display is introduced and the 17-inch CRT is retired. The prices of other models is reduced.
- March 20, 2002 — A new 23-inch Cinema HD Display is added to the line up featuing 1920x1600 pixel resolution.
- January 28, 2003 — Studio and Cinema Display prices are lowered to $699 (17-inch), $1,299 (20-inch) and $1,999 (23-inch).
- June 28, 2004 — Apple introduces all new Cinema Displays with aluminum enclosures and DVI connectors. The sizes available are 20-inch, 23-inch and a new 30-inch model.
- January 4, 2005 — Cinema Displays prices are reduced to $999 (20-inch), $1,799 (23-inch) and $2,999 (30-inch).
- April 27, 2005 — The smaller Cinema Displays get lower prices: $799 (20-inch) and $1,499 (23-inch).
- October 19, 2005 — Cinema Displays prices are reduced to $1,299 (23-inch) and $2,499 (30-inch).
- August 7, 2006 — Display prices are reduced to $699 (20-inch), $999 (23-inch) and $1999 (30-inch)
- April 4, 2007 — Display prices are reduced to $599 (20-inch), $899 (23-inch) and $1799 (30-inch)
